WORKS OF PROSE

WITHOUT HIM

(Inspiration: Ecclesiastes 1 -- "Solomon said, So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem; also my wisdom remained in me. And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor: and this is my portion in all my labor. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labor that I had labored to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.")

Nothing can satisfy the heart of a man like the sweet taste of the Lord's love. Embracing Him, dwelling in His love, and being fully assured of union with Him -- this is all in all. All things are as nothing in the brilliance of His majesty. If we travel the whole world over, see the greatest of all sights, and have the finest things that life has to offer, none of these will even be remembered, and cannot be compared to the joy we shall know when we meet Him face-to-face.

There is no better quality of life than the Christian life. His greatest need is his Savior; without Him, he becomes wretched and with Him, then should he be locked in the darkest prison, he would find it a paradise, because he is satisfied with the everlasting favor and goodness of the Lord Jesus.

I HAVE SET THE LORD ALWAYS BEFORE ME

Know that God is always before you. Know that in Him, you have the holiest and most perfect companion -- one of sweet excellence and mighty influence. The right state of mind for the godly man is to be determined that in every circumstance he will keep his eyes on the Almighty Lord. This person remembers that God is near him; that God fills his spiritual eyes with eternal visions, and daily leads and guides the way of his life. If you set the Lord always before you, then there will be many prideful ways that you shall avoid and sins that you shall overcome; your life will exhibit sweet virtue and there will be joy in your heart so great you cannot contain it.

Let the Lord be ever in your mind, come to feel secure in His nearness and remember always that in that nearness he is with you. His love is our greatest joy!

HE SHALL GATHER HIS ELECT

There is coming a day when God will send angels (with a great sound of a trumpet) to gather together His elect from the four winds, from the uttermost parts of the earth to the uttermost parts of Heaven. Always be ready and diligent in watching and in waiting for that glorious day!

Being ready means that you live each day as though it might be the one in which He will make an appearance. Let your conversations always be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for He has said, "I will never leave thee." And never be ashamed of Jesus or His words, because it is written of him that is, "... of him shall the Son of man be ashamed when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels."

Jesus Christ is in Heaven this very minute; He sits at the right hand of God where all angels, authorities, and powers have been made subject unto Him. Be ready Christian, because our Father might send Him for us at any time!

WORKS OF POETRY

HIS LOVE CHANGED MY LIFE

From darkness to light

From loneliness to contentment

From sadness to gladness

From death to atonement.

I never knew fulfillment

Always empty was the cup I drank

I lived each day for only me

And slowly, slowly, it was I who sank ...

Into the muck, into the mire

Into a pit of dead men's bones

Forever bound in deceitful chains

The way and truth, I was not shown.

BUT JESUS ...

Looked upon me

His eyes were merciful and fierce

He reached down and touched me

And my heart was thunderously pierced.

THEN I BEGAN TO KNOW

THE LOVE OF CHRIST.

I WAIT FOR THEE

I have no joy but that which comes from God,

And take no pleasure in the things of this earth;

I seek only to bless Him with songs of love --

And to someday see His face of joy and mirth.

To be at His feet and look upon His purity

Are distinct pleasures of my mind;

With this, I shall wait upon His mercy and grace,

And thus find contentment in this earthly time.

I will walk each day in a garden so rare,

And find brilliant and radiant flowers;

The fragrance of their swaying in the wind,

Dances through my reasoning, as I wait each hour.
